Sorry about the lack of posting, for one thing the California BAR is kicking my backside so I haven't had much time for anything. For another the tea party movement has been run pretty well by very capable people so I have not bothered adding more to the party outside of my boisterous participation. Finally I'm also blogging occasionally on my friend's website, and I just posted a new article so you should go check it out.

Formation

Hello ladies and gentlemen
Well this is the first attempt to get a San Diego Tea Party going.

What is a Tea Party you may ask?

Its not a place where you go out and have little sandwiches and a nice pot of Earl Grey.

I'm talking about an important part in our history; the Boston Tea Party. For those of you who don't know what that is (and I'm assuming there's a few of you out there), here's the story (from Wikipedia):

The Boston Tea Party was an act of direct action protest by the American colonists against the British Government in which they destroyed many crates of tea belonging to the British East India Company and dumped it into the Boston Harbor. The incident, which took place on December 16, 1773, was a major catalyst of the American Revolution and remains an iconic event of American history.

You see, back before we were a country, the populace was in arms about taxation of which they had no say in. Hence the old saying "No taxation without Representation".

Well nowadays its not as much taxation as it is spending without real representation. Though especially here in California we are subject to some of the highest taxes in the nation with a state government that grows and grows and grows. Instead of stopping the growth of government, we get taxed on everything and anything possible. Even when the People put in a requirement of a super majority for tax raises, a measure designed to stop the run away tax increases, the government decided to call them "fee increases" and kept right on taxing.

Federally its the same thing. With a new president has come the largest spending bill in the history of the world at almost $800 billion. Its called a stimulus, designed to create jobs. There's few jobs that are set to go now and those that exist in the bill are designed to start working around 2010-2011. Oh and those construction jobs still require years of study, surveys and government hearings. The rest is a mish-mash of special interests, lobbyists and political groups getting fat at the trough of the American people.

As if that's not enough now President Obama wants to give billions to pay for the mortgages of people who can't afford them. They're called financially responsible but are allowed to refiance over 105% of their home's value. This is after the majority of them have been unable to pay their mortgages over the last 9 months when the government forced banks to lower the rates. There are definitely people who fell victim to predatory lending, to people who hid the truth and told them what they want to hear. They need to pay for that. But I follow the belief, at my tender age, that you are responsible for what you sign. And this also comes on the heels that the government will pump $200 billion to keep Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack alive - those are the government companies that helped CAUSE THIS INSANITY! AND WE ARE FUNDING THEM WITH MORE MONEY!

So that's the final straw. I can not stand the idea that I, my children and my children's children will be paying China and others for years to come because our governments can't stop spending our money. And when they reach the end of the trough they care little about what we want, they just demand we pay up.

So I'm calling for a San Diego Tea Party. We've got a harbor, we've got ships, we've got the ability to toss things in there. This is a call to arms to everyone and anyone who wants to help me in this. I've got the will, i've got people who want to help. But I need more.

That's where you come in. Let me hear from you!
